Gordon Braxton

Consultant - Gordon Braxton

Gordon Braxton, a Prevention Specialist in the Office of Sexual Assault Prevention and Response at Harvard University, is an acknowledged young activist in the causes against sexual assault and oppression. His awards include a 2002 Men of Vision Award from Virginians Aligned Against Sexual Assault (VAASA) and the Algernon Sidney Sullivan Award, the University of Virginia’s most prestigious award for humanitarian service. In his third year at UVA, he was one of only 50 rising seniors selected to live in the University’s esteemed Lawn Community as a result of his contributions to the school and community.

Motivated in part by a youth experience that saw him in a coma for about a month, Gordon is dedicated to making a difference in the world and has made an impact at each level of his young career. In college, he was the architect of an annual race relations forum that attracted substantial audiences of University and community members. He was the two-time President of a Fraternity chapter that received the Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life’s Best Programming Award after coordinating several well-attended forums on racial profiling, “black face” entertainment, and “self segregation.” Gordon was one of the founding members of a men’s peer education group at UVA known as “1 in 4.” He was also a recent guest of CN8’s “It’s Your Call with Lynn Doyle” talk show discussing the Kobe Bryant case and its impact on sexual assault victims and is currently working on a book addressing youth perceptions of athletes, race, and sexual assault.

In addition to grade schools, he is also experienced at addressing college communities. The long list of colleges where Gordon has lectured includes Cornell University, Maryland-College Park, Stanford University, Brown University, Emory University, Georgia Tech, Cal State-LA University, Harvarad University, Delaware State University, and the University of Virginia. His rare combination of youth, experience, and vision makes him an ideal presenter for many environments.
