Session Presenter - John Badalament
John lectures nationally and internationally to
schools, colleges, parent groups, non-profits, prisons, and religious
groups about the critical role fathers play in children’s
lives and gender issues. His documentary film, All Men Are Sons:
Exploring the Legacy of Fatherhood, aired on PBS across the country
and was reviewed by The Boston Globe and LA Times. John’s
writing has appeared in industry publications such as The National
PTA Magazine and Voice Male.
John holds a Master’s Degree in Education
from Harvard’s Graduate School of Education. Over the last
15 years he has worked in clinical settings as a counselor for adolescents
and adults, public and independent school settings as a Dean and
teacher, and developed a private consultancy. As an Associate at
Terry’s Real Relationship Empowerment Institute, John currently
maintains a private practice working with couples.
As a national leader, John participated in Harvard’s
Summer on Boy’s Development and Male Psychology. John has
presented at national conferences such as the NAIS Annual Conference,
The Psychotherapy Networker Symposium, New England Fathering Conference,
National Head Start Conference on Fathers, and The Harvard Medical
School and The Askwith Forum at Harvard’s Graduate School
of Education.
Currently, John is finishing his new documentary
film, Gender Traps: How Marriage Problems Start in Kindergarten,
which explores the impact of socially constructed gender roles on
interpersonal relationships for males and females. John is also
working on a book about modern fatherhood.
