Session Presenter - Dr. Stewart Barbera
Dr. Stewart Barbera, Jr. is Chair of the Counseling Department and a counselor for freshmen and sophomores at St. Joseph’s Preparatory School in Philadelphia, PA. Stew is also an adjunct instructor at Neumann College in Aston, PA. Stew earned his Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees at Loyola College in Maryland, his Master’s of Social Work at the University of Pennsylvania, and his doctorate in clinical psychology at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. In addition, Stew founded The Center for Family Enrichment with his wife, Linda, in 2001 to promote academic excellence by providing academic enrichment Study Skills Workshops to students throughout the Delaware Valley. Stew also maintains a small counseling practice.
Stew most recently authored a chapter entitled “Social Work Practice in Schools” on the topic of academic underachievement published in the book Cognitive Behavior Therapy in Clinical Social Work Practice (Springer Publishing Company, 2007).
