Juniors: “Substance Use: Easy Escape or a Dangerous Path?”

Thanks to the popularity of the Juul, addiction now comes in more flavors and colors than ever before. However, vape pens aren’t the only problem facing underage students. Prescription drugs, alcohol, and cannabis are also frequently used and abused by teens. This two-part presentation seeks to debunk some of the myths about teen drug and alcohol use, while emphasizing the neurobiological science behind addiction and research-based alternatives for dealing with stress and anxiety.

Juniors learn about different addictive substances and how drugs, including popular legal ones such as cannabis and pills, can impact the body. They learn more about the science behind different substances, while also exposing the deceptive marketing techniques behind the rise in teen consumption. At the end of the presentation, students have the knowledge and resources necessary to make positive changes in their own lives and in your school community.

Seniors: “Drugs & Alcohol: Stress-Relieving or Anxiety-Provoking?”

The program for seniors focuses on the psychological impacts of addiction on both the brain and behavior, with a special emphasis on stress. Many students begin using substances as a way of coping with stress, not realizing substance use actually increases anxiety over time. Our presentation digs deeper into popular triggers for teen drug and alcohol use and equips students with tools necessary to choose healthier alternatives.

Parents: May choose either of the two above presentations, tailored for parents.
