Meet Danika Smith
Author, Survivor, & Dancer

Pronouns: she/her/hers
Through vivid storytelling and deeply personal experience, Danika explores what it means to break away from expectations, face trauma, and build a life rooted in joy, courage, and authenticity. A survivor of sexual assault while traveling abroad, she speaks openly about shame, recovery, and reclaiming power through creativity and connection. Danika Smith is a dancer, author, and solo traveler who uses storytelling as a gateway to healing and cross-cultural connection.
After graduating with a degree in medical sciences, she set off on a year-long solo trip that transformed her life—and inspired her to write her debut memoir, One Year and a One-Way Ticket Today, Danika teaches dance and presents workshops that help young women find their voices, shed societal ‘shoulds,’ and step into their fullest selves. Whether on a stage, in a studio, or behind a pen, Danika helps others understand: we can rewrite our stories—on our terms.
