Meet Kateri Marion
Anishinaabekwe Survivor Advocate

Pronouns: she/her/hers
Kateri Marie Marion is an Anishinaabekwe mother, educator, survivor advocate, and speaker from the Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa Indians. An enrolled citizen, she brings more than 12 years of experience in early childhood, K-12, and special education. She began speaking in youth and community settings at 16 and continued through age 30. At 33, she publicly came forward at a press conference about the institution that abused her.
In 2026, she returned to public speaking in survivor and professional settings, including the Stand Against Sexual Assault Conference and Every Child Matters. She is scheduled to be a global virtual speaker for Take Back the Night in 2028. As Internship Coordinator at First Nations Women’s Alliance, she connects Tribal colleges and victim-service programs through a paid internship program funded by the U.S. Department of Justice’s Office for Victims of Crime (OVC). Her experience navigating civil mediation, settlement, and a nondisclosure agreement (NDA) informs her advocacy around survivor voice, confidentiality, and access to justice. Kateri asks what systems missed and what can change, while centering each survivor’s choice and ownership of their story.
