Pronouns: he/him/his

Ryan Travia is the Associate Vice President for Student Success at Babson College, where he leads the division of Student Affairs in the development of a holistic approach to ensuring student health and safety, personal development, and overall wellbeing. Travia provides leadership and strategic direction for a comprehensive portfolio that includes health services, counseling services, health promotion, sexual assault prevention & response services, and substance abuse prevention. Prior to joining the Babson community, Travia served as the founding director of Harvard University’s Office of Alcohol & Other Drug Services from 2005-2015. In this capacity as the first substance abuse prevention specialist in the University’s history, Travia developed a nationally-recognized, award-winning substance abuse prevention program focused on education, intervention, policy development and coordination with treatment providers. While at Harvard, Travia also held a dual appointment as the founding director of the Department of Health Promotion & Education. Before landing at Harvard, Travia led the alcohol and drug education program at Dartmouth College.

Dr. Travia is our go-to presenter when it comes to educating our students about alcohol, its effects on their brains and bodies, and how to keep themselves safe. His presentations, each tailored to the unique challenges faced by high school students of different ages, are always informative, engaging, and grounded in science. What sets Dr. Travia apart is his ability to foster a non-judgmental, open environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and sharing their own experiences. This openness encourages meaningful discussions about peer pressure, decision-making, and personal responsibility. His approach doesn’t lecture but rather encourages self-reflection, helping students think critically about the choices they make. We look forward to working with him, knowing that his messages will have a lasting impact on our students.
